    #NoGimmicks Approach

At Superior, we believe in the merits of transparent, value-based pricing of our services. From the beginning, our goal has been to offer you – our client – services that are fair and equitable, services that meet your needs and exceed your expectations, and services that provide a fair, and not excessive, compensation to us, our employees, and their families. As I hope you’ll note throughout our site, we’ve tried to steer clear of statements like “as low as”, “starting at”, and “beginning for”. Although I’m not surprised by the number of clients that ask me ‘what’s the catch?’ when discussing our pricing, I am pleased to be able to say “what you see is what you get”.

    Our Values

    Honesty
First and foremost, we need to be honest with you and all of your stakeholders. We don’t always have good news to deliver in auditing and consulting, but the best service we can render to you is to be honest and straightforward regarding our findings and opinions. We value your trust and strive each day to continue to maintain it.
    Transparency
It is our goal to be absolutely transparent regarding the scope of our services, what is included or excluded, and the pricing for what we undertake to perform. All parties benefit from clear and concise agreements, and we try our utmost to deliver exactly what we commit to, when we commit to it without surprise charges, other ‘fees’, or similar gimmicks.
    Expertise
Professional expertise to undertake a given project is critical in our industry. If we don’t have the expertise to take on a given project, we’ll be up-front with you and try to guide your resources that fit your needs. We do undertake an engagement, our reputation is on the line that we can complete it in a competent and professional manner.

Tribute to a Founder: Mary L. Boyd

Mary L. Boyd, one of our firm’s founding employees and our CEO for over 10 years, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of April 22, 2019 in Springfield, Missouri.

Mary joined Superior Consulting as a founding employee in July 2003 after a 13 year career with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, including a two year assignment to the Office of the Vice Chairman in Washington, DC. In 2008, Superior Consulting separated from its founding organization, a regional community bank, in a private equity transaction and Mary assumed the position of CEO of the newly independent firm.

Mary held and admirably executed this position until her untimely death at 51 years of age. She was a great friend and mentor to all of us at Superior Consulting and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure and good fortune to know her. The values that we refer to and the approach to business that we discuss above is, in large part, a legacy of Mary’s tenure at Superior, to which our team is greatly indebted.

Mary and I worked together from 2004 until the very day of her untimely passing. Far beyond being a mentor to me throughout my career, Mary was, more importantly, a close personal friend. Her loss is deeply felt and greatly regretted by all who knew her. She left a great legacy at Superior and everyone on our team was the better for having worked with her.
    Alison Holmes
Mary was an amazing businesswoman, boss and friend. Her untimely passing left a hole in our hearts. Mary lived her life to the fullest. As I write this, I can imagine Mary’s laugh and the twinkle in her eye. As a boss, Mary was always supportive and confident in the Superior team. Mary exemplified a life of commitment, hard work, fun and love toward others. I am blessed to be part of the team she was proud to have created many years ago.
    Brad Coursey
I started working with Mary at Superior in 2005 and for her a few years later. She was a very kind, understanding and generous person. Above and beyond Mary being a great boss, she more importantly was a great friend, which I know I am not alone in that sentiment. Mary is truly missed by anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Mary, it was a true blessing in my life to be a part of yours. To have a front row seat to watch a strong woman’s intellectual mind deciphering a problem and inquisitive thinking was admiring to see. Your giving heart always took care of us all at Superior like family. Your untimely departure has broken our hearts, shedding countless tears, but we are able to stand strong and move forward because of your guidance and strength you always showed us. Thank you for being more than a boss, a true friend that always told me what I needed to hear versus what I wanted to. I am a better person because of you. Hope this finds you with your toes in the sand and a drink in your hand my friend.
    James Roark
My first experience with Mary was when I served as president of a local community bank. We were experiencing some IT issues and had hired a ‘big name and a highly regarded’ IT Specialist out of Memphis. After a few months we didn’t feel we were accomplishing what we were expecting and Mary and Superior Consulting were most frequently recommended as a solution by other peers. After meeting with Mary, there was no doubt we were heading down the right path. Years later, after coming to work with Superior, I found how truly caring Mary was with all her clients and especially her family and friends. Mary’s passing caught us all off-guard and has left an unfillable hole in our team as well as our hearts. She is missed...

Mary was both a mentor and a friend. She was outspoken, fair, and kind. She was a good leader and will be missed more than I can express. I have missed my daily interaction with her at work. She made me laugh while expecting the absolute most from me for our clients.

Mary left us far too early, but her generosity will never be forgotten. She always made time for people both professionally and personally. Mary’s best talent was her ability to see the big picture. Her insights served our clients well, and her vision grew our small company into something special. I hope that we can grab the baton and continue running, which is truly the best way to honor her. We will miss you, Mary.
